Mamie Stout

Died: Tuesday, June 24, 2014
Age: 93
Mamie R. (Woodard) Stout, a 36-year resident of Lakeville Michigan passed away at her home on June 24, 2014. She was 93.

Mamie was born on August 2, 1920 in Clinton, Kentucky, the daughter of Marion and Pauline (Woodard) Bascomb. She loved cooking, crocheting, making quilts, the pontoon boat and playing solitaire with Katie. Mamie especially loved her family and keeping everyone in line.

Mamie is survived by her children Jerry (Carol) of Sterling Heights and Linda (Gordon) of Leonard. Grandchildren Laura (Dennis) Rigby of Macomb, Shari (John) Fogler of Leonard, Kelly (Brian) Miller of Lake Orion, Jeff (Crissy) Biauce of Metamora, Becky (David) Ostrander of Almont, Lori (Paul) Delmotte of Armada, and Lisa Woods. Great grandchildren Derek, Katie, Josh, Justin, Jimmy, Alex, Ben, Alison, Sean, Gracie, and many other great grandkids. Nephew Jim (Jeanie) Owen. Dearest cousins Katherine Wooten,Danny (Debbie) Courtney, Hannah, and family. Also, Charlie (Beth) Woodward, Mack, and Tim Biauce of Warren. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Charles, sister Robbie Hedges, Debbie Kushner and Jamie Woods.

Funeral services were held on Saturday June 28 at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Porter officiated.

Burial was at Lakeville Cemetery. Donations can be made Cystic Fibrosis.

ROGERS, B. Frank, Jr.; of Waterford; June 23, 2014; age 91; preceded in death by his wife Marguerite; father of Carol (Larry) Hemmerly, Tom (Suzanne), Joan, Jeff (Susan), Dr. Chris (Amy), Theresa, Barbara (Joseph) Morley and Bill (Jessi); also survived by 21 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; brother of the late George (Jane); Frank retired from General Motors. POWELL, David Lee; of Clarkston; formerly of Waterford; June 23, 2014; age 63; husband of Kandace; father of Michael (Cindy) and Sam (Kristen); grandpa of Molly, Josey & Ellie; brother of the late Bill (Jane), Ada Mae Fehrenbach, Frank (the late Bev), Jill Costello, Jack (Alice) & Sam; also survived by many nieces & nephews; preceded in death by his parents B.D. & Daisy and infant sisters: Joy Margaret and Mary Lee. Dave graduated from Waterford Kettering High School in 1969 and was remembered as a basketball star. He served as a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, was employed as a diesel mechanic for Huron Valley Schools and enjoyed golfing. Celebration of life visitation Friday 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Lewis E. DRZALA, Dorothy A. “Dottie”; of Grand Blanc; formerly of Waterford; June 22, 2014; age 78; preceded in death by husband Raymond; mother of Carol (Jeff) Ebert, Linda (Terry) DiDio, Sue (Rob) Lamson and Ray (Amy) Drzala; also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sister of William (Jenny) Gray and Robert (Del) Gray; Dottie enjoyed bowling and knitting scarves, which she sold at craft shows. She formerly owned and operated Ray D. Sales with her husband and was a 40 yr member of St. Perpetua Catholic Church. She will be remembered for always seeing the best in people. Edward Porter, Jr

Died: Sunday, June 22, 2014
Age: 98
Edward James Porter, Jr., a lifelong resident of Leonard, passed away June 22, 2014. He was 98.

He was born October 3, 1915 the son of Edward James and Blanche (Robeson) Porter in Leonard. Edward graduated from Romeo High School in 1935 where he held the record for the 100 yard dash from the mid-1930s to the mid-1990s.

He married his loving wife Lucille Baza on June 17, 1939 at the Leonard United Methodist Church. He retired from General Motors Truck and Coach in Pontiac in 1973. Edward was one of the founding fathers of the Addison Twp. Fire Department and served as chief. He was also the Leonard Village President, Village Marshall as well as a church leader at the Leonard United Methodist Church and Leonard Community Church. Edward enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

He is survived by his Loving children Janet Ostrander of Leonard, Linda (Wesley) Douglas of Leonard, Stephen (Jan) Porter of Oxford, and Cindy (Jerry) Bawks of Perry. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and three special nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lucille Frances Baza, his sisters; Vivian Gabriel, Marion Sutherby, Beryl Patch, great-granddaughter Stacey Terry, son-in-law James Ostrander and his special Friend Lucille Bishop.

A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Leonard United Methodist Church (254 Elmwood – Leonard). Pastor David Gerber of Heart to Heart Hospice officiated.

CUCKSEY, ROSA LEE of Lake Orion; June 22, 2014; age 91. Beloved wife of the late Morris. Dear mother of Jon (Christine) of Harrison Township, Chris (Susan) of Novi, and the late Suzy; loving grandmother of 9 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Rosa Lee was a member of the Lake Orion United Methodist Church and Church Street Singers. She was also an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11:00 am at Lake Orion United Methodist Church. Interment Ottawa Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm. at SPARKS-GRIFFIN FUNERAL HOME, Lake Orion (248-693-8336).

Age: 96
Elizabeth Elsie DeBoer, of Oxford, passed away on June 21, 2014. He was 96.

She was loving wife of the late Paul and the dear mother of Donald (Arlene) DeBoer, Patricia Nichols, the late Joan Metzger and the late James DeBoer.

She is survived by her loving grandson and caregivers Daniel (Rhonda) DeLoy. She’s also survived by many grandchildren, great, and great great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, 7:00 p.m. at the Modetz Funeral Home (100 E. Silverbell Rd.) in Orion Township. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until time of service.

Burial will be 12 noon Thursday at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Grand Rapids.
