Doris E. Kalso

Age: 87
Doris E. Kalso; of Lake Orion; passed away August 26, 2015 at age 87. Doris was the beloved wife of the late Richard “Dick” Kalso for 64 years. She was the loving mother of Rick (Patty), Ron (Cheri) and Russ (Patty); dear grandma to Nicole (Ryan) Grinwis, Nathan, Neal (Pam), Kellen (Channing), Keane (Holly), Reed (Sally), Sheylan, Kristi (Ryan) Rumberger and Derek Elliott; great grandma to Avery, Chase, Jackson, Kylie, Keira and Arianna; dear sister to Jessie Isenhauer, Dawn Gilbert, Gilbert Gray, the late Betty Harp and Sarah Taylor; dear cousin to Lloyd and Gladys Bliss; and aunt to many nieces and nephews. She also considered Rene’ & Steve Samet, Bobby Johnson and Bill & Judy Gage her extended family.

Doris retired from Lake Orion Community Schools after 20 years of service and was an active member of the Lake Orion United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She was an avid crafter, bird watcher, and Tigers fan. Doris was a snowbird, wintering in Zephyrhills, Florida for 30 seasons. No matter where she was or what she was doing, it was obvious to anyone who knew her, that her greatest joy was her family.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 11am at Lake Orion United Methodist Church. The family received friends on Sunday from 12-4 and 6-8pm at SPARKS-GRIFFIN FUNERAL HOME, Lake Orion (248-693-8336). Interment Eastlawn Cemetery. Jewell Irene Glowacki

Age: 93
Irene Glowacki formerly of Sterling Heights and Troy was born April 15, 1922 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late William Ann and Maude Pearl (nee: Green) Sells. She is survived by two sons, Tom (Jackie) Glowacki and John Rola; six grandchildren, Alan and Susan Glowacki, Colleen Schultz, Douglas Jefferson and Jimmie Watts, and Kelly Watts-Dark; nine great grandchildren, Alec and Taylor Glowacki, Olivia Hill, Elena and Ava Cisckowski, Jarrid and Evan Watts, Ashley Dark and Connor Schultz; preceded in death by her loving husband, Alex Glowacki and one daughter Suzanne Niazy. Mrs. Glowacki was formerly employed at Sears, Roebuck at the Oakland Mall. Private Service was held at White Chapel Cemetery, Troy where she was laid to rest next to her husband. Marilynn J. Carson

Age: 67
Marilynn J. Carson; of Lake Orion; age 67; passed away August 20, 2015. Marilynn is survived by her beloved husband, John of 45 years; children, John (Carolyn Stuart) Carson and Jennifer (Nick) Agro; grandchildren, Carson and Addison; and siblings, Susan Waldo-Geltz and Rick VanRossen.

Marilynn always had a smile, made everyone laugh and could work a room like you wouldn’t believe.

A Celebration of Marilynn’s Life was held on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at 5pm at SPARKS-GRIFFIN FUNERAL HOME, Lake Orion.

Matthew L. Daigle

Age: 94
Matthew Daigle of Waterford and Ortonville was the beloved husband of Suzanne and the late Agnes. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Matthew was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge. He was a retired engineer with GM Cadillac Division and a former cabinet maker for Jade Industries. He was also a former member of Brandon Twp. Senior Citizen Center. Funeral Mass to be held Monday, August 24, 2015, 11:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church (825 Ortonville Rd., Ortonville). Frederick Phillip Fritz Wolff

Died: Wednesday, August 19, 2015
Age: 76
Fritz Wolff was born on February 27, 1939 in Menominee, Michigan, to George and Elizabeth Wolff. He graduated from Menominee high school in 1957. He then attended New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico on a football scholarship, where he won a National Jr. College Championship in 1958. He completed his undergraduate education at Western Michigan University, graduating in 1963, with a bachelor's degree in secondary education. He later earned a Master's degree in education from Michigan State University. In the fall of 1963, Fritz began teaching and coaching football at Goodrich. He would teach for 42 years at Goodrich High School, retiring in 2005. Fritz coached football at Goodrich for 47 years, as well as coaching 3 years at Grand Blanc, and 1 year at Swartz Creek. In 1994 he was inducted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame. Fritz was a longstanding member of the Goodrich United Methodist Church. He enjoyed vacationing with his family, golfing, and reading historical literature. Fritz is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lynda; 3 children, Michelle (Dan) Hughes, Jeffrey Wolff, and Michael (Erin) Wolff; 4 grandchildren, Jordan and Kaitlyn Hughes, and Dawson and Brayden Wolff; 2 brothers, William and Kenneth (Dianna) Wolff. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elizabeth Wolff, and his nephew Kenneth Robert Wolff Jr. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Coach Wolff Memorial Scholarship Fund. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015 12-4 pm and 6-9 pm at Goodrich United Methodist Church, 8072 State Rd. (M-15), Goodrich. The funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Goodrich United Methodist Church, with visitation from 10am until the time of the service. Cherie Kelley-Hunter

Died: Monday, August 17, 2015
Age: 66
Cherie Kelley-Hunter, of Oxford, passed away peacefully August 4, 2015. She was 66.

Beloved wife of Robert Hunter; loving mother of Kelley Frisby; stepmother of Deborah Olter and Brian Hunter; dear sister to Cynthia Francisco, Deborah (Bob) Jones, Bill Kelley, John Kelley and Rod Kelley. Cherie was loved by her many close friends and relatives, plus her “bonus” family, Leah Kinney; and her daughters, Ashley Sampeer and Alexis Kinney. Cherie was born in Pontiac, MI to Rex and Eloise Kelley (nee DeReamer).

She graduated from Lake Orion High School and Oakland Community College. Cherie was Camp Counselor “Higgins” for many years in the Girl Scouts of America. Cherie devoted her life advocating for people with developmental and physical disabilities, by managing group homes (C.B. Residential) and being a teacher’s aide for the Waterford School District.

She was a former Special Olympic Coach with the Michigan Special Olympics. She was a past President of the Fraternal Order of Police, James R. Lafnear Metro-Pontiac Lodge 132. Very active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Cherie was a past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Union Lake Eagles, Mother of the Year for the Clarkston Eagles, and a Bell Ringing Past State and Regional President.

Funeral services were held Aug. 8 at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home in Lake Orion.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michigan Special Olympics.
