Fred Belschner of Ortonville was the husband of the late Eva Jean Belschner; he is survived by 3 children, Lori (Steve) DeLay, Gerald (Joni) Long and Donna Greer; 1 brother, Ken (Norma) Belschner; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; 1 son-in-law Victor Lancina; he was preceded in death by 2 sons, James and David Long. Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Navy-Korea and retired as a civil engineer. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a future date. Donald E. Schultz

Age: 73
Donald E. Schultz, age 73, of Clarkston, MI, passed away on September 9th. He was born April 17th, 1941 in Detroit, MI. He was a graduate of MacKenzie High School and earned an Associate's Degree from Henry Ford Community College. He worked as a product designer for Creative Foam of Fenton, MI for many years.

He was married to Gloria Betke who proceeded him in death, August, 2011, He is survived by his devoted companion, Murphy, brother Robert (Susan) of Indian River, MI and brother Charles (Janet) of Warrenville, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Don was an avid sport fans who followed The Detroit Red Wings, the Tigers, the Lions, and MSU sports.

He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time at the Metro Parks, boating, fishing, and traveling.

Friends may visit on Monday, September 15th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston, MI. Funeral service Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at St. Trinity Lutheran Church , Clarkston, MI where friends may visit directly at the church Tuesday 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Thomas Moore

Age: 89
Thomas Moore, of Oxford and formerly of Montrose, passed away on September 9, 2014. He was 89.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Arline and his son Craig.

He is survived by his children Arline (Larry) Carmichael, Matt Moore, Leslie (Mark) Trimble, Joan Clinton, Jim (Sherry) Moore, Tom (Lisa) Moore, and Shannon (Bob) Francis; and his many grandchildren.

Funeral Mass was held September 16 at at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Orion.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home in Lake Orion.


Gladys “Sue” Streight

Died: Monday, September 08, 2014
Age: 75
Streight, Gladys “Sue” of Lake Orion; age 75; went to be with the Lord on September 8, 2014. Sue was the beloved wife of Waldon for 52 years; loving mother of Linda (Mark) Moran, Janet (Ken) Kobos and Richard (Summer) Streight; dear grandmother of Jacquline, Kaitlyn, Zachary and Mason; great grandmother of Jacob; and sister of Richard Petersen and Evie (Delaine) Hanson. Sue was the daughter of Rev. Gudmund and Gladys Petersen and graduated from Grandview College in Des Moines, Iowa. Together Sue and Waldon moved to Michigan where she was very active in King of Kings Lutheran Church and choir. She became the surrogate grandmother to the many children that she watched thru the years. Sue also enjoyed volunteering with F.I.S.H. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at King of Kings Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends on Friday at SPARKS-GRIFFIN FUNERAL HOME, Lake Orion from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Allen Thomas Welch

Age: 67
Allen Thomas Welch, of Metamora, died Monday, September 8, 2014. He was 67.

He was born April 27, 1947 in Hadley to parents Earl T. and June (Brace) Welch. Allen graduated from Goodrich High School, class of 1965. He served his country proudly with the Navy Sea Bees for four years and then the Naval Reserves for an additional eight years.

Allen married Lillie Potts on August 3, 1973 in Oxford.

Allen was a tool maker for General Motors, working at Pontiac Motors for 38 years and then finishing his career working 10 more years at the GM plant in Grand Blanc.

Mr. Welch is survived by his wife, Lillie Welch of Metamora; children: Angela (Rex) Roach of Imlay City and Michael Welch of Texas; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; siblings: Delores (Ed) Roe of Clarkston, Dennis (Alice) Welch of Scottsville, KY and Irene Brace of Columbiaville. Allen was preceded in death by his brothers: Walter Welch and Leroy Brace; sister, Janice Gault and his parents.

Cremation has been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer.

Roland William ELKINS

Age: 77
ELKINS, Roland William, of Clarkston; September 7, 2014; age 77. Preceded in death by his wife Linda Marie and sister Elaine (Paul) Stapert; father of Ed (Jackie) of Clarkston and Dan (Pam) of CA; Grandfather of Eddie (Erin), Sarah, Nathan, Zachary and Mattison; great grandfather of Logen, Jayden and Connor. Beloved son of the late Raymond (late Julia) and Agnetta Elkins. A special thanks to caregiver’s Bruce and Nicole. Roland retired from General Motors as a metal model maker. of Ortonville. Born Sept. 1, 1923 in Bridgeton, Scotland to the late William and Catherine (nee: McMillan) Kelly. She is survived by one son, David (Antonietta) Allen; two grandchildren, David (Jayme Brooks) Allen and Lauren Allen. Catherine was a member of Ortonville United Methodist Church. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 at Ortonville United Methodist Church, 93 Church St., Ortonville. Pastor David Pratt officiating.
